Webinar: Steps to Financial Security for OFWs – financial education for OFWs at the comfort of your home

The Cristobal

June 26, 2015 was such a busy day for Angat Pilipinas Mission workforce. Part of this,  was a webinar conducted by The Cristobal a family advocacy that forms part of the Angat Pilipinas core team. The speaker, Mr. Tristan Cristobal tackled the step by step journey towards financial freedom.

There were more than 100 registrants who signed up for the webinar. Apparently due to some technical issues, some members were not able to log in. But as our commitment to serve our listeners better, the webinar’s recording has been saved and provided immediately to the webinar registrants.

Tristan, specifically pointed out that a goal is the main driver for all the steps to carry out. It has to be SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timebound). He also mentioned his own story about how Step 1- Tithing was able to change his mindset and improve his financial status. It is by giving that you start receiving – MORE. After which, next steps were mentioned like the necessity of having an emergency fund, insurance, and investments as whole.

Key take away from the webinar, is to put a specific goal to each investment (ie mutual fund, uitf, vul, stocks) so as you know how you can properly manage each one of them.

Lastly, the webinar was an opportunity for us to impart to our fellow OFWs the meaning of being one. That is, we work as an OFW in order to earn more so we can provide more. But don’t forget and live within your capacity now as a temporary overseas worker. Put a limit because your family back home is waiting for you – to enjoy the fruits of your labor – WITH YOU. Thus, the main content and inspiration of the ebook Discover the Five Year Plan of an OFW

The webinar concluded after an hour but it surely did leave a lasting impact to the lives of our OFWs listeners.
